Welcome to Cookham Rise Primary School

Cookham Rise Primary School is a thriving school located in the heart of Cookham. We pride ourselves on being a warm and friendly school and welcome a broad intake of children from the local village and the surrounding areas. We typically have 200 on roll and are proud to have a happy, diverse mix of cultures.

Situated next to the excellent facilities of Cookham Library and the Alfred Major Playing Fields, the school has spacious modern facilities, including whiteboards and internet connection in all classrooms, a well-equipped ICT Suite, separate playgrounds for KS1 and 2 as well as a large sports field.

The school embraces up-to-date teaching methods and includes integration of ICT tools and techniques in many lessons. In addition, KS2 children have the opportunity to learn a Modern Foreign Language.

As important as academic achievement, we firmly believe that a schools’ curriculum should be rich, broad and balanced to encourage strong social, emotional and physical well-being. Cookham Rise offers an excellent range of extra-curricular activities and clubs, including football, netball, martial arts, dance, art and music. In addition, we operate a number of school trips throughout the year for all children. Older children have the opportunity to participate in residential trips. School productions are also a well supported feature of the school and a new sound & light system has recently been installed to enhance these activities.

Parental consultation and partnership is a key part of our ethos. We hold regular Parent Workshops (e.g. “Understanding How Mathematics Is Taught Today”, “Making Science Fun”) and Parent-Pupil-Teacher Consultations where pupils and their parents meet with the teacher to discuss progress and agree targets. Parent-Teacher Meetings are also held to discuss academic and social development and keep parents informed of termly curriculum content.

We recognise that providing a before and after-school facility is important for some parents. At Cookham Rise we operate the ‘Early Risers’ Breakfast Club and offer an After-School Club provided by Wise Owls, a well respected local childcare organisation.

We are confident that when our children leave us for senior school they are happy, confident individuals well-equipped to take their place as citizens of the 21 st Century.
